Rehabilitation of Offenders Act

Admin Assistant
Salary £24,796 - £25,185 pro rata.
(£12.85 - £13.05 per hour).
24 hours per week.
Monday – Thursday 8.30 – 13.00
Friday 8.30 – 3.30 (1 hour lunch break).
Term Time plus Non-Pupil days (39 weeks).
There may on occasion be additional hours available for cover.
Start Date 23rd February 2026.
The Headteacher and Governors of Southmead Primary School are looking to appoint a friendly, organised and efficient Admin Assistant to work in our busy school office. You will be the first point of contact for parents and visitors to the school, working in the main school office alongside our full-time Attendance Officer.
You will work closely with the school admin team to ensure the smooth running of the school office. The post is very varied, incorporating a wide range of administrative tasks. Please see the job description for full details. You must work well in a team, be able to cope with the demands that come with a busy school office and be flexible to move between tasks as needs arise. Training will be provided where needed. You will be part of a proficient team dedicated to working to improve the outcomes for all our children, families and staff.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience of working in a busy office environment with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite being essential. Recent school-based experience is preferred.
- Is able to use Bromcom.
- Is able to prioritise and work well under pressure.
- Is able to deal with sensitive and confidential information.
- Has a commitment to outstanding levels of customer service for all service users.
- Is friendly, professional, energetic, enthusiastic and has a positive approach.
- Is able to use their initiative, work independently and has excellent time management skills.
- Has a passion for working with young people and their families so that their school experience is a positive one; experience of working with children and young people is desirable.
- Excellent Literacy, Numeracy and ICT skills.

Teaching Assistant - cover
£24,027 - £24,404 FTE (£12.45 - £12.65 per hour)
We are looking for people on an ad hoc basis to cover for staff absences. You would get paid for the hours you work and wouldn’t be committed to everyday – just as and when you are needed and are available. You will need to have a current DBS check which we can arrange if you are interested.
Ideally we are looking for someone with the following qualities:
- A Teaching and Learning Assistant Level 2 qualification or equivalent
- Experience of working with children and/or children with additional needs
- Experience of delivering 1:1 and/or small group interventions
- Experience of setting clear and consistent boundaries
- A positive and encouraging attitude
- Kindness and patience
- A willingness to learn
- An ability to work within a team
- GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent, in English and Maths
This role requires the ability to fulfill all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

Meal Time Assistant – Cover
We are looking for people who have an hour or so to spare between either 11.50am – 1.05pm or 12.15pm – 1.30pm on an ad hoc basis to cover lunchtimes on the KS1 and KS2 playgrounds. You would get paid for the hours you work and wouldn’t be committed to everyday – as and when you are needed and are available. You will need to have a current DBS check which we can arrange if you are interested.

School Crossing Patrol
School Crossing Patrols help children and adults cross the road safely while they are walking to and from school at a designated point/s and between specified times. They are at locations where it may be difficult to cross the road.
